Project Educational Goals
The curriculum web will be for 7 & 8th grade students in my Technology in Society class. The goal of this lesson is to incorporate all major areas of the NETS Standards (creativity / innovation, communication, research & information fluency, critical thinking / problem solving, digital citizenship skills, & tech operations / concepts).
See standards & students outcomes to the left. This activity/project is geared to prepare learners with the skills that they will need for life outside of school.

Students will break up into groups, assign roles (specific job description that each member is responsible for, and manage it accordingly), and download GIP permit form & rubric (students are expected to refer to the rubric as they complete this project).

Students will keep detailed journal notes, which will be emailed to the instructor daily.

Students will practice appropriate digital citizenship applications & correct classroom behaviors.

Students will brainstorm ideas for their project, complete their group’s contact information, research local demographics, and compile information on their permit form.

Students will communicate electronically through the iPad & in person with both group members and instructor.

Students will research & maintain a list of resources necessary for construction.

Students will maintain and back up (through email, Dropbox, or Google Docs) necessary documents which can be viewed by the instructor at any time.

Students will draw a sketch that will represent their supplies used (quantities), size / dimensions, and what their final model will resemble.

Students will bring in supplies, which they will use to fabricate a model of their device.

Students will present their model to the class, and be graded from the rubric they downloaded.

Students will complete a project evaluation.
