THE LORD IS NEVER TOO BIG TO FIT IN THE SMALLEST HEART
I Kings 8:27 But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
Have you ever wondered how big the Temple of the Lord was that Solomon made? I Kings chapter 6 tells all about it, and chapter 7:13-51 tells all about its furnishings. The actual inner sanctuary or Holy of Holies where the presence of the Lord would appear over the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant was 30 feet long, wide and high. It is no wonder Solomon said that what he built couldn't’ contain God. Isaiah 66:1 even says, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?’”
As we see in the Old Testament there were many appearances of the Lord. The Lord would come and talk with people face to face. In Exodus 33:11 it says that the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. The Lord or the angel of the Lord did this with many different people. We see in II Chronicles 1:7 & 7:12 where the Lord spoke to Solomon twice. Most often he appeared in human form, but he must have had a shining appearance or something, because he was usually recognized as being supernatural.
Of course there is also Jesus. He not only took the form of man, but he became incarnate with his creation. Jesus not only created all things being God, but became human. (Jn 1:1-18) He was just like every other male with the exception of having the inherited carnal nature of rebelling from God that every other person is born with. He was born a baby. He grew up and no doubt dealt with the same problems and frustrations just like everyone else. Hebrews 4:15 tells us that Jesus was even tempted in every way just like we can be. And yet when he rose from death, he had a body that could appear and disappear in a moment. He could be touched and yet come right into a room with locked doors and windows. He could walk on the earth and even water. Then following his death he was able to descend into the abode of the dead to set captive souls free of their bondage. He was nailed to the cross, and yet sit a the right hand of God the Father. God is beyond our limits! God is limitless and infinite. Even our understanding cannot grasp Him. All that we do understand about him, he has had to teach us. How can God dwell in a Holy of Holies that is 30 feet tall, wide and long? The same way as he can dwell in our heart!
There seven verses in the the New Testament just like in Galatians 2:20 that says Christ lives in us. There are sixteen verses that tell us that the Holy Spirit lives in us too. What a marvelous God we have! And God just doesn’t come into our heart, but he communes with us, he teaches us, empowers us and transforms us into his likeness. What a gift we have received when we received asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. God is not just Emanuel (with us), but he is in us!
Would you like the great blessing of having God come into your heart? Well, it is easy and this is exactly what he wants to do! Just pray this prayer; Lord Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. Please come into my heart and help me live my life for your glory. It is in your name I ask this. Amen. If you have just prayed this prayer you can be well assured that Jesus has forgiven you and will continue to forgive you as long as you trust in him. Our forgiveness is not a matter of our being good enough, but rather Jesus being good enough. We certainly want to live a life without sin, but at the same time we know we can’t. If we could have we probably would have done it a long time ago. I can’t encourage you enough to find a good church to go to, so you can learn more about Jesus and have a good support group to help you keep your faith in Jesus and help with your new life in Christ. Go to several different churches to see what one is best for you. Even in the same denomination the pastor’s will be different.
The styles will be different in their worship of the Lord. Most churches that have been around for some time will have older members that will not want to change. They will not be comfortable with young people and the contemporary music. There are many new independent churches that welcome young adults and their styles of worship. Whatever church you decide to attend be sure it is one that stays close to the Bible in their teaching and Jesus as their focus. Be sure and E-Mail me if you like. jimmylpoole3@gmail.com.
Prayer: Thank you Lord for coming into our heart and life. You are such a wonderful God to allow us to have a personal relationship with you. Please help us to always be a blessing to you and never a curse. Please keep us close to your heart as we keep you in ours. We love you Lord!
