Keeping Close To God
A Daily Bible Devotion for the Serious Christian by Jim and Joshua Poole.
Psalms 132;17 Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.
This horn for David I believe is Jesus Christ. We know that David was a man after God’s own heart. The reason for this is that David loved and trusted in the Lord completely. He had sinned so much that when God was about to punish him, David told the Lord that he was satisfied to trust him in how to punish him.
David loved the Lord. There were many mistakes that David did in his life, but he always stayed true to the Lord and loved him no matter what. I am sure that when Jesus went down into the abode of the dead following his victory over sin and death that David must have been proud that Jesus came through his descendants.
Our descendants mean a lot to us. They are our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and so on, but there are also spiritual descendants as well. They are the people that we have touched their lives somehow for Jesus. And they in turn touched lives for Jesus like the ripples in a pond when a rock hits the water. Those horns, relationships become our descendants too.
I would like to acknowledge our son Joshua Poole for all he has done to set up this web page and work with me on this devotional. He has been a great partner in this ministry as he has so many times fixed my computer when I messed it up, and also the time he has spent in posting the daily devotionals. He has been all I could have ever asked for in a son. He is a wonderful husband, father, teacher, son and of course Christian.
Thanks Joshua!
