THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORIES OF YOUR NAME

Psalm 8:1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. (Read all of Psalm 8 if you can)

I am almost 69 years old now and I have had the privilege to have lived in some amazing times. Technology has seemed to increase at unbelievable rates. Let’s just take my computer that I am typing on. I just now wanted to find the verse in the Bible that says there will be an increase in knowledge in the last days before Jesus return. I went to google it and as soon as typed scripture up popped, here will be increase of knowledge. Now I know that somehow the computer somehow stores up information on subject matter that individuals use on their computer and will retrieve it quickly, but this is more than I can really comprehend. Unless I put in the factor that just before I began to write this devotional I asked the Holy Spirit to help me, and to bind the powers of darkness from bothering me. I think I will go with the Holy Spirit! It is easier for me to accept the Holy Spirit knowing what I want and need more than a computer, although a lot of people will think I am crazy. You have to remember when I was in high school we started off learning to type on manual typewriters, and then later if we were good we got an electric typewriter. For me it only meant that I could make more mistakes faster. But now with my computer my mistakes are erased by faster than I can go back. I am not sure how my Windows 10 does it, because if I am not using that I just get a red line under a word that reminds me I made a mistake. Technology can be so wonderful. It is making me look smarter than what I really am. Look at me! I am a genius! So, where does this take us with today’s scripture? Well, ever since I saw the earth for the first time from pictures taken from the moon and how beautiful our planet is, I have been fascinated with the heavens above. Not only has our satellites and space station shown us spectacular pictures of the earth and space, but the Hubble Telescope and now space probes that we have sent to the outer edges of our known galaxy are sending back pictures with amazing clarity the beauty of God’s creation.

Since very early times as far back as they think 6,500 B.C., the Chaldean, Assyrian, Babylonian, Egyptian and Mayan people have studied the stars with amazing accuracy. The Mayan people are still recognized for how accurate their calendars are. One thing common to all of them was there interest in the star Sirius and the Constellation of Orion. While they are interesting, they are nothing in comparison to the Orion Nebula that is located just south of the Orion Belt. It can be seen with the naked eye, but with the Hubble Telescope it took on a new beauty that even left our astronomers with their mouth open. It is truly spectacular! All I can say is I love it. For a long time I had a huge picture of it in my Man Cave until after one of my many moves it was torn. I would encourage you to google it and see it for yourself. So where does this get us regarding today’s scripture you might ask again? Well, our scripture verse is more true than what King David ever suspected. God has set his glory in the heavens to show just how magnificent is the majesty of his name.

In Revelation 4 this is what the Lord showed the apostle John. This is what it says, “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’ At once I was in the spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven Spirits of God. Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’

Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sit on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’”

Maybe you are thinking that is pretty hard to believe, but it isn’t any harder than for me to believe that my computer gave me my scripture verse on google by just typing in scripture! Now that is hard to believe and I saw it myself!!!!!! Gad zooks!!!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I love it when you make humanity look so small, and glorify yourself so much. No matter what the world may say about you not being real even they have to look up once in awhile, and see the heavens declare the glories of your name! We love you Lord!
