WE LOVE YOU JESUS!
Psalm 23:2-6 He makes me life down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflow. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
While the world seems to care less about Jesus, the Christian hates to think life without him. Jesus is much more than our Good Shepherd! He is the Son of God, Creator, Sustainer of all life, the Savior of our Soul and Reconciler to God. Jesus is our Husband who loves us and cares for us, wanting only the best for us. Who other has shown us such love? No one! Jesus knows that one of Satan’s plans for pulling us away from him is the business of life. If Satan can get us so preoccupied with things he can break any relationship. Many families have suffered and even broken apart because of work and activities. Granted in these times it almost takes both parents working to provide for the family, but even when off work the family is separated with activities. It is not an uncommon thing for a pastor to spend so much time serving the Lord that their children rebell from the Lord, and their marriage ends up in divorce. This is why Jesus wants us to come close to him as family. We need time together where we can worship the Lord, pray together, study his word and encourage one another. We need quality time to restore our relationships and our spiritual relationship with Jesus. If we don’t give time for our family with Jesus, the world will certainly take it! Honoring the Sabbath was meant to be more than a day off from work. Sabbath was given to us by God for the family to restore our soul and oneness with the Lord and our family. God doesn’t need it, but we certainly do. We need to be very careful that we don’t let Satan or the world rob us of this gift!
Jesus also knows that it is good for us to be righteous. It will bring joy and happiness to us and help us to avoid not only sin but sorrow as well. Our being righteous also not only glorifies the Lord, but in doing it we have a blessing that only the righteous have and that is we get to bless the Lord.
One of the great poems and songs the Lord gave us was Footprints In The Sand. While many people claim authorship it certainly brings home the point that for the Christian our life lived here on earth is never one where we walk alone. Jesus is there not only to be with us, but many times he is carrying us when we no longer have the strength or courage to continue on. Even at death’s door, we are never alone. Jesus said that he would never leave us or forsake us even to the end of the age, and we can certainly count on him to fulfill his promise.
John 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” Our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is God and there is no one more powerful. Even if Satan, the powers of darkness and the evil of this world would all together come against Jesus they couldn’t even intimidate him let alone conquer him. Because we belong to Jesus, there is no one that can come against us as long as we trust in Jesus for our help. We don’t need to fear Satan or the powers of darkness, because if Jesus is for us who are they to be against us? It is Jesus that we find our comfort and assurance!
Because we belong to Jesus and have become his Bride, we can expect only his best. In Revelation 19:7-9 we see where Jesus will prepare a great wedding banquet for us. All of heaven and I believe even those in hell will see how wonderful Jesus treats his Bride. All of heaven will rejoice over the great love Jesus has for us and we for him. And because of this we shall be with him forever more. And forever more we will praise him and love him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, how we love you! Thank you so much for loving us so much, and for dying for our sins so we could be forgiven. Please keep us unto our salvation, and please help us to love you more every day of our life. We ask this in your holy name.
