OUR NEW HOME WILL BE WONDERFUL
Isaiah 65:17-25 Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. Never again will there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy in all my holy mountain, says the Lord.
In the book of Revelation 21-22:6 the Lord continues to reveal what life on the new earth will be like. We learn that the new Jerusalem will come down out of heaven as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. God will dwell with his people and be their God. And as we see in Isaiah 65 he will wipe every tear from our eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. God will make make everything new. Everyone who overcomes or loves and trust in Jesus will be in the new Jerusalem. It says that the new city will be 1,400 miles long as it is high and wide. This means that it could be a square or a pyramid. It will have twelve beautiful foundations made of precious stones. And on each side will be three gates with the names of the apostles on them. Because the Lord is there, no temple is needed. The sun and moon is not needed either, because of the Lord’s glory making it light. Outside the city there will be nations, and the kings of the earth will bring splendor into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. There will be a river that will flow the water of life clear as crystal that will flow from the throne of God and the Lamb down down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stands the tree of life that bears fruit and the leaves are for the healing of the nations. There will no longer be any curse, they will experience eternal life there.
For everyone that puts their hope in Jesus there will be no disappointment. The only reason why a person can not live such a wonderful eternity with God is because they refuse to seek forgiveness of their sins, loving and trusting in Jesus. Just as Christians choose Jesus, everyone else chooses to reject him.
Our life on earth is a proving ground to see who is acceptable for eternity with Jesus. Being acceptable for eternity with Jesus doesn’t depend out our worthiness, but rather trusting in Jesus’ worthiness. People that don’t want to humble themselves and love Jesus now would hate being with him for all eternity! You may think it would be for you too knowing the sins you made in your lifetime on earth. But we all need to remember of the the good news that we put our hope in, and that is because of Jesus’ atonement for us our sins are forgiven and all those things that happened in our life on earth will be forgotten. It will be as though they never happened. As Christians we will be truly be born again in body and in our mind of remembrance. God is so good to love us so much to do this for us! All he asks is we trust in Jesus and love him. This is why even a little child can become a Christian and be with Jesus for all eternity.
You may be wondering about people that have never heard about Jesus, believed in him incorrectly, those that were mentally handicapped or even babies that died at childbirth. Well, we know one thing and that is God wants everyone to find forgiveness through Jesus, because we see this in John 3:16. Ezekiel 18:23 and 33:11 tell us that God does not even delight in the death of the wicked. We also see that following Jesus’ death and resurrection that he went to preach to those in the abode of the dead so they could have a chance to receive him as their Lord and Savior. By doing this everyone could have a chance to find forgiveness and go to be with him in heaven, and God would be perfectly just and fair in doing it. So I personally believe all the above that were mentioned will have Jesus’ salvation explained to them on judgment day. No one will need to go to hell and miss out on how wonderful living with God will be.
If for some reason you have not asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart, I pray that you do it right now. God respects your free will and you must ask for it. Remember it is not how good you are, but what he did for you!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for telling us the great blessings that await for all who love and trust in Jesus. It is truly our blessed hope! We love you Lord!
