HATING EVIL
Psalms 5:4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
Sometimes people ask the question if what is happening in their life and in the world is from God. Well, a pretty good test is to ask the question if it is evil. God will punish and he will test us because of our free will and the accountability that comes with it. But to say that punishment is evil isn’t right, nor is testing. Evil is doing those things that are quantaray to God and his holiness. Sad to say we see way too much of this in the world. We hate it and God certainly hates it as well. That’s right God does hate evil! In fact not to hate evil and even sin is to go against God and all that is holy. We should hate what is evil and love what is good.
One of the things that is wrong in this world and sometimes even in Christians is that we don’t hate evil. Sometimes we see even in the church where white is made black and black made white so to speak. The morality and holiness of the world certainly changes, but it should not change in the church, in Christians and will not change with God. Maybe some of the problem lies in the accessibility of evil. One hundred years ago, or even fifty years ago the accessibility to all the evil that is so easy to be found on TV and the internet just wasn’t there. Now parents worry about what their children may be watching on their computer or their children’s friends computer. Even phones and other devices that are internet accessible are throwing trash into the minds of us all if we are not careful.
The monkey lies fully on each and every one of us. We all have a free will and we can shut it off, or tune in to it. We know that God is not evil, and he will never approve of it. There is nothing good about it, and it is like a cancer that eats away at a person's soul and relationship with the Lord.
When the Holy Spirit quickens our spirit that we should not be doing something or watching something we need to obey him. The Holy Spirit is the guardian of our soul and relationship with God the Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, as well as all that is holy. Let’s become determined to guard our holiness in Christ, and reject all that is evil, so we’ll will never have to hang our heads as we stand before Jesus.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, please help us to hate evil just as you do, and to help us to live a righteous holy life. We ask this in Jesus’ name.
