HE HAS PREPARED THE WAY

Psalms 16:8 I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

I have learned the best way to go through life is with Jesus before me. Even after I became a Christian sometimes I would go headlong into things and regret every moment of it. The thing with free will is our will doesn’t always line up with our expectations or hopes. Now with Jesus as my point man it is a different story.

The point man in the military was someone that could be trusted with the lives of everyone that followed him and his advice. They would risk their life to go out in front of the rest of the men in their group to see if the enemy was waiting for them. He was willing to risk his life for others. Jesus not only risk his life for us, but he willingly gave up his life for us just so he could go before us.

Jesus said in John 14:1-6, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Who wouldn’t want a pointman like Jesus? Some have said that death is our last great adventure. Well, it will not be a very good one unless Jesus is your point man. It will be a nightmare. But with Jesus, death will be no more than a shutting of one's eyes to open them to see Jesus ready to take us home to be with him, the Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus has prepared the way wonderfully for us. The old order of things will have changed for us. There will no longer be any sorrow, pain or death. We will be perfect as Jesus is with a new glorified spiritual body. If you are as old as I am, you don’t have to worry about taking an old beat up body to walk around in heaven with. We will forever be perfect in every way.

If you fear the idea of death, cheer up if Jesus is your pointman. When we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and to come into our heart, he will bring to pass what we have entrusted to him. His goodness, righteousness and holiness will be ours. In Christ, God the Father and Holy Spirit will find no fault in us!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for going before us to prepare the way for us, so we can be with you for all eternity. We love you Jesus!
