HIS TRAIN FILLED THE TEMPLE

Psalms 68:18 When you ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts from men, even from the rebellious - that you, O Lord God, might dwell there.

Truly the prophecy of God is amazing. Although this would not happen for hundreds of years it happened just as God spoke through David. I am sure that he probably didn’t realize the significance of what he was saying, but it was right on just the same.

In I Peter 3:18-4:6 it says, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also - not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand - with angels authorities and powers in submission to him.

Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who had suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do - living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation and they heap abuse on you. But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body but alive according to God in regard to the spirit. The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

When Jesus went to the abode of the dead following his resurrection. He gave them the same chance for forgiveness and reconciliation with God as he has give everyone following Calvary’s cross. The gates of hell can no longer hold anyone that wants forgiveness and reconciliation with God. One of the very special times in a wedding is to see the bride come down the aisle in her beautiful dress. Especially in years past it was common for the bride to have a long train of beautiful material being pulled behind her. The tradition goes back to the middle ages and was a sign of her position in society. The longer the train the more prominence. Several years ago in Bucharest at a Wedding Fair a dress designer made one that was two miles long and was shown from a hot air balloon.

Well, I think Jesus probably had that one beat, because in another section it tells us that his train filled the temple. We can’t imagine the number of souls that received Jesus that day when he descended into the abode of the dead. That day will only be matched with the day of the rapture. At that time Christians all over the earth will be caught up to be with Jesus in heaven at his great wedding banquet. (Rev 19:7-9)

Are you signed up for Jesus’ wedding banquet? Have you asked him to be your Lord and Savior? If not, what are you waiting for? Like with the ten virgins waiting for their groom, beware you can be too late and miss the wedding party! (Matt 25:1-13)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for going into the abode of the dead to give them a chance to find forgiveness and reconciliation with you, the Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. Please help us to be ready for you to call us to our wedding day and banquet. We love you Lord and ask this in your holy name.
